It never ceases to astound me of the most random places that I can find good, good music. I mean, once I even found this awesome track on some random porn site… but that can wait for another post. This track is one I discovered from watching a cartoon I’ve previously mentioned on Audio-Therapy called Clone High which is where I also discovered the fantastic Campfire Kansas by The Get Up Kids. I’m not sure why but whenever Bill Lawrence is involved with a TV project, he always seems to include great accompanying music to set the perfect mood of the scenes. This track featured at the end of the final episode and so feels very conclusive and slightly somber. It’s by Abandoned Pools who was the former bassist of the Eels (who spawned the great track “Fresh Feeling”, appearing on the Scrubs Soundtrack a while back – so there’s the Bill Lawrence link once again). It includes distorted beats, buzzing guitars and strings setting the hazy landscape, and sonically it’s all very absorbing, similarly to how Darren Hayes’ Who Would Have Thought sucks you in from the first seconds of the track when the beat kicks in. I’ve yet to properly sit through the album Humanistic from which this is taken but the tracks definitely share a similar vibe and maybe worth checking out.
